Why Am I Here???

Ok… this is the type of question that popped into your head when you were a kid gazing into the vast blue sky that seemed endless. You looked out and all of sudden you realized how little you really are in the scheme of things and you wondered — How do I fit in? We all have been on that quest of — “Why Am I Here?” As believers we understand that we are created to worship and serve God through His Son Jesus Christ and as we mature in Him we get the bits and pieces needed on how we are to specifically walk this out.

Everything that He gives us whether it is a gift, talent, finances, or life experiences —  is NOT for us! Primarily it is given to us to promulgate the Kingdom of God by SERVING others.  The blessing is in GIVING. So why do we ration this aspect of our life? Oh what a condition we would be in if Jesus allowed His humanity to rule and He rationed out His giving.  He gave the ultimate gift —  His Life, sacrificial in order that we may have ETERNAL life!  He did this for us & we actually deserved the penalty of ETERNAL DEATH! This is the pattern we should be walking in everyday.

My prayer is that we actively walk out this aspect of our lives with no guile or no expectations of what we would receive due to the outcome. Time is of the essence and we must have an urgency about doing the will of the Father.  We ought to have  full CONFIDENCE in the Lord that He has already provided all that we need regardless of the severity of that need. Our focus should not be on our lack but our focus should be on doing His Will!

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

This scripture means SO much more than just finances. What if at the time you had no finances? Does this scripture not apply to you? Of course it does because this speaks to giving out of who you are unconditionally to others. The measure in which you give speaks to the purity of your heart as well as giving out of  the abundance of your heart.

Time is of the essence…

To Be or Not To Be? — That is the Question!

How many times have you asked someone – “Did you go to church today?” It is something that is said without really much thought. I was challenged some time ago when asked this – “How can you go to yourself? I pondered that question for a long time and then went to the Word. The word “church” is found in the New Testament a total 79 times. Each time it is written about, there is not one reference to attending “it” (the church) as if it were a building however it speaks of the church as being a live organism – people. Not just any group of people I might add. The word church means ecclesia – called out ones. The Thayer Dictionary defines church as – a gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, an assembly or an assembly of Christians gathered for worship in a religious meeting. No mention of the church being brick and mortar there. So by looking at the Word of God we can see that church is His people called out to worship the True & Living God NOT the place in which we chose to gather. This notion of “going to church” promotes a Pharisaical attitude and a carnal way of life. Once one has fulfilled their visit of “going to church” on whatever said day their obligation is done. They go back to living their ungodly lifestyles, until the next scheduled visit. I wonder if those people really believed that they are the Church – God’s Called Out Ones. Would they make different decisions in their daily lives? This does not mean that you have no obligation to assemble together – the Word of God addresses that – Hebrews 10:25 – fellowship is necessary but was is being said is this:

The church is not a place of going to BUT a state of being!!

You cannot go to or be something you are not. You either are a part of The Church of Called Out Ones – His Ecclesia or you’re not! This “being” is not something you do habitually as in an occasional peruse through your local library, however it is a state of living every single day!

To Be? or Not To Be? — This is the question of the day.

So will you continue in tradition set by man – your father, grandfather, your momma, or auntie and all of them? Will you continue as the worldly and uncommitted do? The choice is certainly yours today… as Joshua so eloquently put it:

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15
