What is reality? What is truth? There is a world view that says – “Your perception is your reality.” Perception defined is ones conscious understanding of something; vision; the opinion of an individual or group of people. How one perceives their truth is reality? WoW! How dangerous is that view? When we look at this mindset it has the capability to breed a world of lawlessness. If you live your life based on this world view, you can then say because I perceive that I should do or have something then this is my reality or my truth and it is my right to achieve my truth or my reality. Right? If I perceive to lie then I will lie. If I perceive to steal then I will steal. If I perceive to kill then I will kill. If I perceive that I engaging in a sexual relation with someone of the same sex is my right and my choice is right. I therefore should be able to marry that person and do whatever I need to in order to achieve this goal. If I perceive that I have a desire to engage in sexual intercourse with a dog, a cow, a donkey, I will pursue my desires. If your thinking encompasses any semblance of the above, did you know that you sound just like Satan? Now some of you may feel that the statements made here are a bit over the top however, I declare unto they are not. God has been dealing with this ‘perception’ from the beginning -
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; Genesis 3:1 – 7a
When we look at this pericapy we find that the woman’s perverted perception along with her desires was the catalyst used in her deception and ultimate disobedience to her husband. What transpired between the moment she ate of the tree of knowledge of good & evil and gave also to her husband to eat is not written here. However, we can only conclude that once she was deceived into the transgression and ate of the tree she then took on another spirit – the spirit of the serpent. Per the Word of God, the serpent by nature is more subtil than another other beast in the field. Subtil means sly; artful; cunning, crafty; a subtil adversary; planned by art; deceitful. This is how we are duped by the enemy – seduced by our own lust to disobey. The spirit of seduction and deception was the means the serpent used to deceive the woman and she in turn used the same tactics – wiles to convince her husband – Adam to disobey the commandment of God. Have you ever heard of the term ‘feminine wiles’? In one phrase it basically means – The female tactics of seduction to deceive someone into doing your will. If we peruse through the Word of God we will find a plethora of examples of this battle of man choosing to live his life based on his own perception – perceived reality or perceived truth about what God really meant in His Word. We have basically chosen to live a life in rebellion to God’s truth and according to His reality. So what then is God’s reality? Simply put – God’s reality is His unadulterated, infallible Word. God’s reality, His Truth, His Word is revealed both in scripture and through His Son – Jesus Christ which is the Word.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He as in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and with him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
I will say this unto to today -
“Your perception is your reality however; if your perception is not rooted and grounded in the Word of God then your reality is a lie!“
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:4-6
Please know that — There is only one Truth! Believe It!
Until Next Time…
