The word of the day:

melee \MAY-lay; may-LAY\, noun:

  1. A fight or hand-to-hand struggle in which the combatants are mingled in one confused mass.
  2. A confused conflict or mingling.

Who are you wrestling with? If you are the True & Authentic Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you know all to well about wrestling or fighting. We know per the Word of God that we wrestle not against flesh & blood but against demonic forces and wickedness in high places. [Ephesian 6:12] These forces are on assignment to hinder the Kingdom of God from advancing. We also know that the weapons in which we fight are not carnal weapons but spiritual ones. [2 Corinthians 10:4] Do you remember when you were a child and you knew you had to fight and there was no other way around it? You thought of your escape plan it if got to too rough, your attack plan, you even sized up your opponent & how much you expected to get hurt. In some cases you had to ask yourself — Is this person really my enemy? You knew that this really wasn’t about fighting this person but it was about the outside influences that egged you on to fight in the first place, which kept you from looking at the real issue. (Sounds familiar??) Sometimes we can improperly make the wrong assessment before engaging in a battle. During the preparations or even in the midst of the fight we can find out that we are not fighting our spiritual enemies — BUT God. We know that old saying, “Your arms are too short to box with God.” Oh how true it is! (Did you know when you are fighting with or against the people of God or delegated authorities you are fighting against HIM??)  I learned something here recently and this is NOT to discount or minimize the reality of the spiritual battle we face on a daily basis against the forces of darkness — but what I learned is that the issue is none other than ME! Yes, when we truly look at most situations & ourselves we find out that we are lacking awfully in the Fruits of Spirits. The very reason why we are “fighting” is because we did not utilize Agape or Longsuffering or Meekness or Gentleness [Galatian 5:22 -23] and God allowed the events to take place so me, you — WE could get it! So while we are in a MELEE with one another the real enemy has not only made gains in our life but the lives of others that are WATCHING on the side lines.

I will end with this – James wrote  — Submit yourselves therefore unto God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. [James 4:7]  Our submittance wholeheartedly to God is the only true way we can resist the devil. Without a submitted heart to God we can never engage in this battle or live this life effectively because we will not have our armor properly suited and fitted.

“Three”

Today I was visited by an angel – a messenger. I had a Sophia moment. You remember in The Color Purple when Sophie was in the store attempting to purchase items from the laundry list that the Mayor’s wife gave her. Sophie was just released out of prison for sucker punching the Mayor (wrong move).  After her stint in prison, she ended doing the very thing she said she would not do and that was being the maid of Mayor’s wife. Her ordeal left her in a bewildered and catatonic state. As she stood in the middle of the general store, out of nowhere Ms. Celie comes to her rescue. She takes the list from Sophie and begins to assist her in gathering the items. Later on in the movie Sophie thanks Ms. Celie for being there for her in one of her lowest moments & returns the favor and GIVES her a word of admonishment. How many of us know that “we” all should be there to GIVE something to someone. Someone’s deliverance is locked up in your obedience to GIVE. Today I was feeling “mighty mighty low” and an angel came and reminded me in my “moment” that I should open up my heart & worship the Lord! The word of God shows us that often we will have to encourage ourselves. That’s what David had to do!

I Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Sometimes are spirit man’s batteries are low and we need a spiritual jump start! “We” all have to remember that someone’s deliverance is your mouth, your actions. “We” should be standing in the gap for our brothers & sisters in the Lord as well as those who are lost.

Romans 15

1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. 3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

After the messenger left, I thanked God and then I popped in a worship CD – Terry MacAlmon’s Visit Us.

I thank God today for His Son, Jesus Christ for whom without Him, without His obedience unto death, without His shed blood I would be DEAD in my sins & forever separated from God. I glorify His name today and make a boast within my soul of His Greatness, His Love – Everything pertaining to Him! I open up my heart and let Him to mend up those broken down areas & all those areas that are not submitted to Him.
