Hello down there…

Yes, it has been a minute… my inspiration to write has been hit and miss to sum it up and I am coming back to do a RANT of sorts. This subject is one of my pet peeves. I was checking out this new thing called “Twitter” and I stumbled on a page talking about an event called — “The Definition of a Diva”. The meaning provided by the writer - divine goddess (LATIN)  or gentle and pleasant (ARABIC).  The entire premise of the event is to promote the positive sister going places. I pondered on that for a moment… now by reviewing the presentation of the event, website, and other tid bits, I gathered the person organizing the event is not by no means intellectually bereft. So I asked myself — Why wasn’t the full definition of the word explored? I wrote about the etymology of the word “diva”  some time ago. See the below excerpt…

Diva

This term is used to describe an attitude of a woman, a woman that is sure of herself and commands respect. At first look at the word diva I found that it meant:

  • A prima donna
  • A disagreeable & unpleasant person
  • A vain & temperamental person
  • A distinguished female operatic singer; a female operatic star

Ok… So far based on the above definitions of the word diva. We see that this word or term is not all a good thing. Right? Let’s go a little deeper. The word diva literally means goddess. It comes from the Italian word, divina meaning, “divine”, which is the feminine derivative of the Latin word divus, meaning, “divine one”. It also means, the rank or essential nature of a god and/or the deities of ancient Greece. In mythology, divas were the lowest forms of divinity, such as wood nymphs.

I am one who enjoys searching out the true meaning of words or names. The word for that is called etymology. It means the study of the sources and development of words to discover the true meaning and history of a word. For instance the meaning of my name is of Dutch derivative and it means, to tell or to inform. Mmmm.. interesting. In short ladies the word diva literally means demon or spirit.

Often times we choose to take only the portion of something we deem to be a “good thing” or positive attribute. We leave behind the tainted portion as if  by doing so would make the whole better. (Let us not soon forget King Saul) Consider this:

If you take a lie and add a little truth to it does that then make the lie true?

Most of us have a problem with dealing with the WHOLE TRUTH. Even those of us who call ourselvesbelievers in our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Dealing with the WHOLE TRUTH forces one to have the correct perception about oneself. It forces you to see you for who you really are as opposed to who you think you are and would like others to think. The Word of God says this concerning Truth:

And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32 KJV

Truth is the very personification of Jesus Christ.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 KJV

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 KJV

Knowing the TRUTH is an intimate journey. The only way to know TRUTH is to be in relationship with the One who gives the TRUTH. Before we ascribed to anything or anyone we must first search it or the person out and see what the TRUTH is concerning it or the person.  And our guideline is outlined in the Word of God — The Bible.

In all thy ways [figuratively a course of life or mode of action]acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6 KJV [emphasis mine]

CAN  U  HEAR  ME!!??!!

Until Next Time…

Happy Belated New Year Readers!

It was my intention to start 2009 off on a different note however due to “life” circumstances I was forced to come another direction and to be slightly delayed. Delayed is certainly not DENIED. My focus is as always is to relay or inform about ”Truth” in no uncertain terms, straight, and in an uncompromising fashion. This is all with the hopes that someone will read these words and “see” what thus saith the Lord!

2009 brings a ton of challenges and opportunities that will afford us all the chance to make a change. So ask yourself what type of “change” will you bring to the table? If you are doing the work of the Father ALL personal agendas must be put to the side. We must definitely be about the Father’s business. How can we achieve this? Well the examples are given to us in the Word of God. If we are not going by the “original” blueprint then we are doing another work — and that work is one of iniquity.

Matthew  7:20 – 23 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

So, is  the “work “you are doing is it one unto the Lord? Has it been authorized and sanctioned by Him? Does it have a solid foundation? Unless the Lord build it, it will be erected in vain. Please don’t get swayed and influenced by the big P.P.P. — Power, Popularity, & Prosperity! There is no other way but DOWN if you have any other ulterior motives.

Mat 7:24 – 27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
